I took pictures of the recent Venus transit across the sun and created a web page of the pictures.  I posted a note on a  astronomy forum I belong to about the transit pics being on my web site for folks to look at.  Several people responded and said that I should submit pictures to Astronomy and Sky & Telescope Magazines.
So I submiited one....
Astronomy.com actually used it!  I was so surprised.  What is neat is that they only published three photos from around the world and mine was one of them.  The first picture does not indicate a location so I am guessing that it is from France.  The second picture is from India.  The third if from St. Mary's City, Maryland, by yours truly.  Is that cool or what?
What I enjoy most is that they must have received many pictures of the Venus transit from around the world and published only three.  Mine is the only one from the United States this week.  Awesome....
This was easy to do.  I was there early in the morning with a  telescope and a camera.  Nothing really fancy.  If I can do it, anyone can do it.  All you need is the right equipment and the desire to get up early in the morning to catch this event happening at sunrise.

The first picture is text about this weeks Astronomy's Weekly Newsletter Reader's Gallery Pics.  The third paragraph is about my picture.

Guess what?
My 15 minutes of fame?
This is the picture I sent to them.  The text underneath the picture explains the equipment I used.
